Do you want Superfast Broadband?

One of the problems that many Middlemore residents contact us about is the poor performance of broadband connections within the estate.

Northampton county council have pledged £4million to improve the county’s broadband speed, this funding has been matched by central government thus giving £8m in total funding, furthermore it was recently announced that Northamptonshire would be in the first wave of a national framework for a roll-out programme to improve internet speeds along with 4 other counties nation wide.<
Northamptonshire County Council have set their target as providing 90% Superfast coverage by 2015 and 100% Superfast coverage by 2017, they have also described Superfast broadband as being as MINIMUM of 30Mb/sec

Middlemore residents association have been in contact with Northampton County Council to ensure that the poor speeds that the estate receives are highlighted and that there is a real demand for Superfast broadband to be provided to us as quickly as possible

How can you help?
Well the first step is to ensure that you show your support for gaining Superfast broadband within the development, the higher the local demand the quicker the plans are to roll it out to that location.

To show there is demand for Superfast broadband NCC have developed an on-line survey, please fill this survey in and encourage your neighbours and friends on Middlemore to do the same.

NCC Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NCCParishBroadbandSurvey
IMPORTANT: Question 2, Which parish do you live in? YOU MUST ENTER “MIDDLEMORE”

Further details will be made available as the Council’s scheme progresses.

  1. Survey completed, thanks!

As mentioned earlier the Openreach engineer did say to me that Middlemore would have an FTTC (Infinity) cabinet in the next 8 months.

Hopefully if enough of us complete the survey this can be brought forward. I can’t wait to be able to stream my online training videos without constant buffering / poor quality issues.

I feel for anyone trying to run an online business from home on this estate.

Really want to view online videos without constant buffering!
Would have BT Infinity in a second

Does anyone know the true date Middlemore will get superfast broadband?

  3. Coming soon? Is it saying that we will be getting it by 2015? That’s not soon. A town as big as Daventry, and an estate with this amount of people on it should have fast internet. Why it’ll take 3 years, god only knows?

  4. It is said by 2015 .. yes.

The basics are this – Openreach while already providing SuperFast broadband to the rest of Daventry are believed to have claimed that providing it to Middlemore would be too expensive compared to the expected take up and thus not financially viable for them (this we are still waiting to be confirmed – so it is assumed that this is the case at this moment in time).

Therefore in order to achieve SuperFast connections on Middlemore it will require funding to help Openreach install to our locations.

Ultimately this will be by 2015 as this is the date Northamptonshire County Council have set themselves for the roll out, however if we can show there is demand, then we move up the queue to getting funding/upgrade.

We can all sit back and do nothing and eventually get it, or try to get this sooner to benefit for all of us.

  5. Good news Middlemore, BT Infinity FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) is coming March 2013 and you can check if you are within reach and the estimated speeds.

    My result is as follows.

Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st March 2013. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 61.4Mbps and upstream line speed of 20Mbps.
